NAMDEVCO manages the following wholesale markets in Trinidad and Tobago: 

The Norris Deonarine Northern Wholesale Market, Macoya (NWM) opened for operations on Wednesday 10 April, 2002, to farmers, vendors, other traders and the general public.

The Market is located to the South of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, Macoya and is ideally located to capture the majority of farmers from the East West Corridor such as Diego Martin, Aranguez, Macoya, Maloney, Sangre Grande, Biche, Manzanilla, Caura and as far east as Toco and Guayaguayare. The market is also more accessible to farmers in Central Trinidad, but farmers from all over the country are able to trade at the NWM.

The two spacious trading bays at the market are designed to allow for all-weather trading and facilitate convenient trading and transportation of goods. There is adequate parking for traders and vendors. In an attempt to encourage food safety practices, NAMDEVCO is providing pallets to farmers so that produce are not placed on the ground. All farmers are required to place produce in crates, baskets or on tables when selling.

Trading hours at Macoya are from:

Monday – Friday (WHOLESALE):

  • Farmers/Sellers Entry – 3:00am
  • Buyers Entry – 3:30am
  • Buyers Entry – 3:30am

Market Closing Time – 1:00pm on Monday thru Thursday and Friday closes at 2pm

Sunday Farmers Market:

  • Farmers/Sellers Entry – 5:00am
  • Trading: 6:00am – 12:00pm

  • Buyers – Western Gate
  • Official Visitors – Western Gate

The Southern Wholesale Market, Debe, is strategically located to service the surrounding retail markets located in San Fernando, Penal, Princes Town, Marabella, Siparia and Point Fortin. The market was officially opened for trading on May 26, 1993. This modern wholesaling facility, spread over five acres of land, offers to the farming public as well as other users the following:

  • Elevated trading bays to allow vehicle to vehicle trading
  • Twenty-four hour security
  • Hygienic surroundings
  • Spacious car park
  • Excellent lighting system
  • Air conditioned fish and meat stalls
  • One stop facility (there are haberdashery shops, cafeterias, and the actual retailing of fresh agricultural produce; Night time shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables)

This market remains one of the major points for the sale of shrimp in the country. It is located in the heart of the main shrimping beds in the coastal waters of the Caribbean, the shallow waters of the Gulf of Paria. With the construction of the jetty and other major upgrading of the facilities due in the short term, the Orange Valley Wholesale Fish Market has the potential to become one of the most important fish depots in the country.

The Orange Valley Wholesale Fish Market which is managed by the National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO), is located on the central western coast of Trinidad, bordered by the Gulf of Paria, minutes away from the Point Lisas Industrial Estate.

The facility at present is situated on approximately three (3) acres of land but with on going development would soon be more expansive.

A very comprehensive range of services are provided for fishermen as listed below:

The Port of Spain Wholesale Fish Market is the main market for the wholesaling of fish in Trinidad and Tobago. A variety of fish are transported to this market by boat from the North and South coasts of the country and the waters of the Gulf of Paria. They also come via land transportation from southern ports, namely, Erin, Cedros, Icacos and the eastern port of Mayaro. The price of fish at this facility influences the price of fish traded at other markets around the country.
